Be Fair To All In Performing Your Duty - Retired Supreme Court justice, Oguntade Tells Judges

A retired Justice of the Supreme Court, George Oguntade has advised serving judges to fear nobody but be fair to all in discharging performing their constitutional duty but they should be fair to all

Oguntade gave the advice yesterday in Lagos at a book launch in honour of late Justice of the Supreme Court, Kayode Eso.

According to him, this is the period for judges to be courageous and remain steadfast despite turbulent times facing the nation’s judiciary.

The retired justice who was the Chairman of the occasion, urged serving judges to emulate the late jurist who remained courageous and delivered landmark judgments against the military administrators despite threats.
“I wish to use this opportunity to encourage my brothers still serving on the bench at all cadres to remain steadfast and courageous in carrying out their functions.
"This can only be achieved by a continuous mastery and development of the law. The times we are in are turbulent, but remain steadfast, the tides will see you through,” Oguntade said.

The 850 pages book titled “Justice Kayode Eso, Beacon of Judicial Activism” was written on the life and times of the late jurist.
Oguntade said; “the late judge during his time on the bench particularly at the Supreme Court where he retired in 1990 has constantly demonstrated that the essence of judicial function is to continuously develop and strengthen the law and it's resultant effect.

Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, who also spoke at the occasion extolled the virtues of Eso, an indigene of the state.
