June 21: Alliance Francaise Celebrates World Music Day

The World Music Day event (Fête de la Musique in French) started in France in 1981. Every 21st   of June, which coincides with the beginning of summer, professional as well as amateur musicians are invited to showcase their talents.
On this special day, bars, restaurants, parks, event venues, all host a variety of free events to celebrate Music.

Alliance Française Lagos wishes to perpetuate this tradition and will be organising two events to mark the occasion. On Wednesday the 21st of June, students and friends of Alliance Française are invited to enjoy a private live performance by one of Nigerian popular Singers Falana.

The venue is Alliance Française Lagos, Yaba Alagomeji from 2pm to 3.30pm. Each song performed will be followed by questions from the audience. This, we believe, is a special occasion to learn more about the artist, her love for French Language and her career as a musician.

The next day, which is on Thursday the 22nd of June, in partnership with Institut Français Nigeria, African Artist’s Foundation and Showgear, Alliance Française will be hosting a unique free concert with French rapper Leeroy of the legendary Saian Supa Crew, French DJ Aleqs Notal and renowned Nigerian percussionist Wura Samba at the African Artists’ Foundation, in Victoria Island starting at 7pm on the dot.

Join us as we celebrate the world music with a multicultural flavour.
See you there.
