N4.9b Fraud: Court Adjourns Fani-Kayode, Others Trial Till Nov. 20

Justice Rilwan Aikawa of the Federal High Court, Lagos has adjourned further hearing in the ongoing trial of former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode over alleged N4.9bn fraud till November 20 to 22.

Fani-Kayode, who was also Chairman, Media and Publicity, of the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Orgnisation in 2015, General Election, is charged alongside a former Minister of State for Finance, Nenadi Usman, a former National Chairman of the Association of Local Government in Nigeria (ALGON) Yusuf Danjuma, and a company, Joint Trust Dimensions Limited.

They were arraigned before the court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on 17 counts charge, the charge bordered on conspiracy, unlawful retention of proceeds of theft and money laundering. But they all pleaded not guilty to the charge.

At resuming hearing yesterday,  Olusegun Idowu, the first prosecution witness and Managing Director of Paste Posters Company Ltd, concluded his testimony.
And under cross examination he revealed that Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation  still owned him the sum of N24 millions for service rendered.

The prosecution led by Rotimi Oyedepo called his second witness, Teslim Ajuwon who introduced himself to the court as a banker.

But the testimony of Ajuwon was cut short due to objection raised by the defence counsel on the admissibility of a document tendered by the witness, the prosecution later withdrew the document and sought for adjournment which the court granted.
