‘La Tante Fine- Mama’ For Launch Tomorrow

Tomorrow, Wednesday  October 11from 2pm to 3pm, Alliance Française Lagos will host the launch of the French novel, “La Tante Fine-Mama” by Nigerian author George Amadi.
The novel written in French with the aim of popularising the language among millions of Nigerians, is a vital addition to the family library in Nigeria, a country surrounded by a multitude of French-speaking countries. This novel focuses on the situation of girl-child, as she is an invaluable asset for our communities.

Born in Lagos, the author, started to speak French in his early youth at Campbell Street, in Lagos, when his parents lived close to a Senegalese family that spoke only French. At King’s College, he offered French, with success, at the WASC examinations.

With a USAID Scholarship in his kitty, off he went to study French at the Catholic University of Lovanium, Kinshasa, Congo Democratic Republic.

After a long stint working with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), he retired as Editor. In no distant future, he was named News Editor by Financial Standard Newspapers, in Lagos, and no sooner got a job with the Daily Independent Newspapers as Production Editor.

His other books include: “How to Be A Good Journalist”; “Just For A Day” (Poetry) – Volume One; “Just For A Day” (Poetry) – Volume Two; and “Aunty Sunbo”.
Kindly note that the event will be in French!
