Okoroji Returns As COSON Reconstitutes Board

In what could be described as a 'counter coup,' the Copyright Society Of Nigeria General Assembly has restored Chief Tony Okoroji as Chairman of the body stating his removal which was 12 days to the general meeting was done under bizarre circumstances.

The COSON Chairman thanked the members for their confidence in him and assured them that as a committed democrat, under no circumstance would he fail them or betray the Nigerian creative community.

The meeting also resolved that the sum of Two Hundred & Six Million Naira (N206,000,000.00) be distributed to members and affiliates of COSON whose names appear in the register as at May 19, 2017.

Following the resolutions of the COSON General Assembly at the Extra – Ordinary General Meeting of the society held at COSON House Ikeja on December 19, 2017, the Management Board of COSON has been reconstituted to lead the organization till the May 2018 Annual General Meeting of the society.

The reconstituted board has foremost Intellectual Property expert and former President of PMAN, Chief Tony Okoroji as Chairman. Other members of the board are star singer, Mrs. Azeezat Allen; musicologist and immediate Past-President of Music Label Owners & Recording Industries Association of Nigeria (MORAN), Hon John Ewelukwa Udegbunam; Rub-a-dub master, Ras Kimono; famed drummer, Mr. Richard Cole; Afro- Juju star, Sir Shina Peters; top gospel music singer, Kenny Saint Best; President of the Music Producers & Marketers Association of Nigeria (MUPMAN), Engr Sharon Escco Wilson; Highlife singer and Leader of Energy Band, Ms. Maureen Ejezie and Uche Emeka Paul, an Abuja based musician and label owner.

The reconstituted Board which has been inaugurated wishes all Nigerians a merry Christmas and a prosperous 2018.
