Online Portal For Artisans Berths



In its bid to connect all artisans in Nigeria to the world, an online portal, www.naijaquickfix.com aimed at upgrading the business activities of micro, small and medium enterprises has been unveiled.


The online marketing initiative which is the brain child of Global Sight Services Limited in conjunction with Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria was officially made public on Tuesday at NECA House, Ikeja, Lagos.


The Director General, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) ably represented by the Lagos co-ordinator of SMEDAN, Mr. David Fisher assured the artisans that SMEDAN would support their endeavours and increase their capacity.

He said: “The artisans everywhere are the owners of the economy. Without you, no economy can move. We have 37 million business and 36.9 of those businesses are micro businesses. Artisans are the engine of every economy and we are on board to increase your capacity. We will back you up with enabling opportunities to do your businesses. We are bringing professionalism with this initiative and everyone would benefit immensely from it. As we are engaging our businesses, we need to know the challenges. You also need insurance policy. Think big but start small.”

In her keynote address, the Lagos State Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperative, Mrs. Oladunjoye Saidat Olayinka affirmed that the Lagos state government  would continue to support laudable initiatives such as this as it recognises the massive contributions of the MSME sector to the economic development and spare no costs in engendering the sector’s market visibility through online and traditional business promotion channels.


Speaking through Mrs. Helen Adeshina, she added: “ As a government passionate about the growth of the MSME sector, Lagos State strongly hopes that SMEDAN and other stakeholders would leverage on the Naijaquickfix.com portal to connect identifiable artisans with new partners and opportunities across the globe. We arec also happy at the potential of this innovative online marketing platform to serve as a ‘one-stop-shop’ for the burgeoning informal sector as envisioned in the Federal Government’s Economy Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP).”

On his part, Managing Director, Global Sights Services Limited informed that the portal is the way to go. He said: “If we know our worth, we would do more. As soon as you appear on the internet, you would be seen all over the world. Everybody on our portal is registered from associations. Its benefits are numerous to mention, it guarantees safety, provides job opportunities for Nigerians, help to improve professionalism, saves time, energy expended in looking for artisans, effective service delivery, reduce crime rate, opportunity to access government support of all kinds etc.”
There were also other speakers who spoke on various topics and made presentations.
