Assault Of Airport Officials: Amaechi’s Wife Not Involved-FAAN…We’re Investigating Incident-Air Peace

Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, has said that the incident allegedly involving the wife of the Minister of Transport, Judith Amaechi at the Port Harcourt international airport last Saturday has nothing to do with her.

In a statement, FAAN’s General Manager, Corporate Affairs,Yakubu Henrietta, said: “Our attention has been drawn to a trending story to the effect that the wife of the Honourable Minister of Transportation, Mrs. Judith Amaechi supervised the assault and manhandling of some airport officials on the 26th May 2018, because she was refused boarding an Air Peace flight from Port Harcourt to Abuja.

The Authority will like to state emphatically that the incident has nothing to do with the Honourable Minister’s wife, it was between some security personnel at the airport and airline officials.”

Also reacting to the development, Corporate Communications Manager, Air Peace, Mr. Chris Iwarah in a terse statement said:“ We are still investigating the alleged incident. We, however, regard our esteemed guests as part of the Air Peace family and as such we strive to refrain from taking our family matters to the public domain.”

Recall that last Saturday Mrs. Amaechi and her entourage allegedly attempted to force an Abuja bound Air Peace Airline flight from taking off when they arrived late for boarding.

It was also alleged that her armed security aides beat up two of the airline’s ground staff (Confidence Elechi, an aviation security station Coordinator/Supervisor and Innocent Ekot, a flight dispatcher) for not allowing their principal board the flight.
