Ras Kimono: Family Announces Burial Date/Activities

The family of the late reggae icon, Augustine Ukeleke Onwubuya popularly known as Ras Kimono, the rub-a-dub-master has announced the date and activities of his burial.

At a media parley held at Ojez Restaurant, Surulere, Lagos on Monday, Mr. Theophilus Ehizibue on behalf of the family of the deceased and in the presence of some members of Kimono’s family, reeled out activities for the funeral arrangements as follows.

Burial date is runs from August 20th through to August 26.
Friday, August 17- Social Wake keep at his residence in Magodo, Lagos from 8pm till dawn.
Premier Music Tribute would hold at Freedom Park on Monday August 20 while reggae dancehall party holds at his Magodo residence.
Association of Music Band Organisation of Nigeria (AMBON) tribute Nite takes place at Freedom Park on Tuesday August 21 while the reggae dancehall continues at his residence in Magodo.

Wednesday August 22 will be the COSON tribute Nite at COSON house, Ikeja, Lagos. The reggae dancehall continues in his house in Magodo.

Thursday August 24 would be his lying-in-state at the Lagos Television Blue Roof Arena, Agidingbi, Ikeja Lagos from 9am to 12noon. Same day, body leaves for Asaba, Delta State.

There will be a procession in Asaba by the Rasta community on Friday, August 24 from 9am to 12 noon followed by a brief lying-in-state between 1pm and 3pm. Then wake-keep holds at Olona, Delta state.

Saturday August 25, would be lying-in-state in his family compound in Onitsha Olona, interment follows at Olona. Reception also follows at Olona, Delta State.

Sunday August 26 2018 would be the thanksgiving in Olona, Delta State.
